About Us

At Schutzhund Manitoba, we welcome all participants. Young, old, novice, and experienced. Although our main dogs that participate are German Shepherds, we welcome any dog capable of participating in the sport.

History

Schutzhund Manitoba was formed in 1978 and is still home to some of the original people who became involved in the sport at that time.  To date, Schutzhund Manitoba remains the oldest Schutzhund training club in Manitoba.  The Club facilities remain on Summit Road, adjacent to the West Perimeter Highway of Winnipeg.

Over the years, Schutzhund Manitoba has been host to some of the most successful and unforgettable Canadian Championship, North   American Championship, regional events and club events.  Success has always been ensured by the work of a small group of dedicated club members.

In 1988, the club formed a partnership with the SV OG Bindlach Club in Bindlach (near Bayreuth) in northern Bavaria, Germany.  Members from both clubs have visited each other on numerous occassions, forming lifetime friendships and memories.  The clubs on both sides of the world host trials in honour and recognition of each other and the German Shepherd Dog that binds the clubs together.

Schutzhund Manitoba members continue to support and assist each other and other clubs in the further development of the sport of Schutzhund and the promotion and bettering of the German Shepherd Dog.
